WHAT IS REST TO YOU?

November 06, 2018

"I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, 'Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.'" - Lewis Carroll

It's hard to believe that it is already this time of year but here we are, entering into the hands of November, the days become shorter and our bodies yearn for a slowing down. If only we could embrace winter the way nature does. Could we view the snow as a delicate and gentle blanket, embracing us as it does nature, tucking us in to our time of hibernation.

I know I have resisted this embrace, yearning for the warm summer days, the life brought about by the colours around. This year is different....this year I will look upon it as nature's gentle nudge....slow down...go in...rest. And what does rest mean to you? I was asked this question not so long ago and the first thing that came to mind was slipping alongside my fireplace, curling up with my cat and drifting off. But after exploring that thought more I realized rest is an active state. It is not sleep, we actively take rest in many different forms. So here I sit and contemplate on how I want to take rest. With a book, in the arms of my partner, walking in the frost laced woods, creating, and as of recently, sitting in quiet and feeling the life growing inside of me....

Chinese Medicine considers our bodies a microcosm of the natural world and as such, each organ system is related to a season, an aspect of nature, an element, emotions, and body tissue. According to the 5 Elements theory of Chinese Medicine the Liver + Gallbladder are the organ systems related to Spring and the Wood element. This is where manifestation begins to form from deep seeds of potential and is reflected in nature when plants begin to grow upwards, new shoots rising out of the ground.

AN OFFERING TO TAKE MY HAND

November 25, 2017

The past few months have required me to lean in for help and learn to embrace the abundance of love that has surrounded me. As a healer I feel it is much more natural to give than to receive. 2017 has been a steep learning curve in the realm of receiving. In these teachings, I came across a beautiful article on how to make an offering for those who are struggling. I experienced it with my friends, my community, my tribe. I was surrounded by these offerings. It made me think about how I have approached these situations in the past and made me reassess, reframe. I invite you all to take a read over this ARTICLE and I hope that it resonates with you as it did for me. Let it wash over you and then know that I am here and that I hear you. Take my hand.

FALLING INTO FALL AND COMING INTO THE AWARENESS THAT YOU ARE

September 06, 2016

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.”

HUMMINGBEES AND SACRED BREADCRUMBS

July 27, 2016

I recently read this article on the topic of synchronicity and the signs we stumble upon on our journey. Summer, a season I enjoy for hiking and nature walks, has opened me up to so many physical signs, arrows, and directional cues on the physical path. This exploration then of sacred breadcrumbs along our spiritual path really resonated with me, adding a well rounded idea of these signs and syncrhonicities both in the physical and nonphysical paths.

Summer; utmost yang, HEART, fire, abundance and joy. I candidly admit that writing something creative, authentic and intelligent doesn't always come naturally for me; less often than I would like and especially when I'm on a deadline or commitment. I wanted to tap into the creative, fiery and passionate energy of the summer and speak from the heart and when I talk to clients about tapping in to the natural energy of the environment around us it sounds simple.

THE DOG DAYS OF SUMMER

July 12, 2016

The dog days of summer are upon us but what does that actually mean? You might think that they have something to do with hot and humid weather and though this is part of the meaning behind the phrase, the term has astrological roots. The dog days of summer are July 3 through August 11 during which those days are the 20 days before and 20 days after the “Dog” star Sirius rises and falls in conjunction with sun. Sirius is the brightest star in the constellations Canis Major.

THE POWER OF THE HERD

June 30, 2016

What does the wild horse symbolize for you? What types of emotions and body sensations does the horse invoke in you? The medicine of the horse is in it's representation of physical power and unearthly power. Perhaps more than any other animal, the horse has been humanity's closest partner in the animal kingdom. In ordinary reality, it has carried its rider over distances and made communication possible. It has helped to shift heavy loads, and in the tilling of the soil. In non-ordinary reality, the horse has carried the shamanic journeyer to communicate at other realms of existence, to shifts of consciousness, and to till the soil of deeper levels of the mind. American Indians honored the horse as a sacred animal.

THE TRIBE IS COMING TOGETHER

“A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.”
